Gray langurs, known to be sacred in hindu religion because these monkeys came to Hanuman's (Hindu monkey god) aid when he was trapped in fire in Hindu epic Ramayana. These monkeys or langurs are believed to have black hands and face because they burnt it while helping Hanuman who fought to save Rama's wife Sita. These langurs have gained an important role in the religion of Hinduism while being related to Hanuman and thus are not hunted in India.
